The Southeast Community men’s basketball team dropped their second straight game, losing to Central Community College 96-77 on Homecoming, Saturday, Feb. 9.
Head Coach Joel Wooton said The Storm were their own worst enemy.
“I don’t want to take anything away from Central, but this loss was on us,” Wooton explained. “We had a lot of guys trying to put the game on their own shoulders, instead of sharing the ball.”
SCC had trouble getting the ball inside against a tough CCC defense.
“They collapsed down low, and they can do that when we don’t hit the three point shots,” Wooton said.
The Storm shot just 24 percent from the three point line.
Delquan Thomas was the focus of the Raider defense. Thomas was held to 11 points, eight points under his season average. However Thomas was still able to notch a triple/double, pulling down 10 rebounds to go with 11 assists.
James Spencer and 6-11 Center Riak Bol proved to be too much offensively for the Storm. Spencer and Bol had 32 and 17 points respectively.
“We did a good job on their point guard (David Plain) and (Tyron) Criswell, who had 30 points against us last time…but Bol and Spencer really hurt us this time around,” Wooton said.
The Raiders shot 49 percent from the field and 40 percent from the three point line.
Tyrell Corlew led the Storm with 18 points, while Leldon Love added 11.
The loss drops SCC to 15-10 on the season.
