I am having trouble with getting enough sales, what do you recommend? – Seward, NE
When businesses ask “How can I increase sales?” it is very similar to asking a doctor “How can I get skinnier?” it is not about the sales or the skinniest. It is about the behavior leading up to the current result. What is it in your business that is leading up to the decline in sales? Do you have marketing objectives? Did you predetermine your promotional methods? Are you evaluating your marketing methods on an ongoing basis? Are your operations aligned with customer expectations? Are your employees behaving in a manner that is aligned with your expectations? Are you keeping accurate books? Many of these questions can answered through the course of comparing your business plan to your current state of the business. This is all using the assumption that sales were higher at a given point in time in your business. If you have never had high enough sales, a review of the market maybe necessary in helping determine the market demands. If you started this business assuming the market would want your product and or service then defining time frames can help with the process. How long is a reasonable time frame for the market to determine if they find value in your product or service and the way you deliver it? That is a question all business owners have to personally determine.
