The American Society of Health-System Pharmacists Commission on Credentialing voted this spring to extend accreditation of Southeast Community College’s Pharmacy Technician program.
The extension of accreditation is for the remainder of the program’s current six-year cycle, which goes until 2015, or until the ASHP Commission on Credentialing recommends further action.
SCC’s Pharmacy Technician program is located on the Beatrice Campus and online.
The Commission arrived at its decision based on a thorough review of the progress report submitted by SCC. Continued accreditation is granted subject to the provisions set forth in the ASHP Regulations on Accreditation of Pharmacy Technician Training Programs.
The ASHP Board of Directors reviewed and accepted the Commission on Credentialing actions in mid-April.
SCC’s Pharmacy Technician program accepts face-to-face students each Summer Quarter (July) and online students each Winter Quarter (January). A Diploma is awarded at the successful conclusion of four quarters, or one year, of study. Students are required to take labs in person on the Beatrice Campus. All clinical education must be taken at SCC-approved sites.
Elina Pierce is chair of the Pharmacy Technician program. Persons wanting more information about the program are asked to contact her at 402-228-8247 or [email protected].
