Storm Softball struggles on Spring break road trip

Bob Gibson, Head Coach

The Storm played two double headers in Altus, Okla., Thursday, March 26, and Friday, March 27, taking on Western Oklahoma Community College.

On Thursday, game one’s score was 11-3 in 5 innings. Game 2 was 19-5.

Pitching, defense and batting all failed the Storm today.

For Friday’s games, defense showed up for game one with Megan Hartman pitching well. Two base running mistakes eliminated scoring opportunities, and the Storm lost game one 4-0. Of the four runs, three were unearned.

Game two had Melissa Foley on the mound. Western Oklahoma hit the ball well and roughed up Melissa to the tune of 12-3.

The three runs scored by the Storm were a result of a bases empty homerun and a two-run home run by Allyson Vrbas. Ally also hit a triple in game one and was thrown out trying to score on an overthrow.

The Storm next played a double header with Seward Community College in Liberal, Kan., on Saturday, March 28, where they lost 10-2 and 9-0.
