LINCOLN- The SCC Veterans Connect Center will open its doors on Friday, Sept. 11. The ribbon cutting will be held in Room U3.

Operational hours will be Monday thru Friday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Because of certain medical conditions, some veterans are unable to socialize in the Student Center and find their experience overwhelming.

The Veterans Connect Center will provide a place for veterans, dependents and service members to relax and study.

Internal staff, advisors, and outside resources will be available. A veterans benefits representative will be on-site to apply for benefits. The center will be equipped with computers, couches and a television.

A grant was applied for and approved for the renovations in Room U3. One full-time employee and three work-study students will operate the center.

“Having a veterans center is a great way of enhancing student veterans, service members, and their families educational experience,” said Associate Director of Financial Aid and veterans certifying

Official Charles Brewer.

“It’s a great opportunity for veterans,” said veteran student and SCC staff member John Mamaril. “They can have a place where they can get assistance with the transition from military to civilian life.”
