Lady Storm wins double header on the road

Storm Softball traveled to Nevada, Mo., to take on a much-improved Cottey College program in a Saturday doubleheader that took the team to a 4-0 record.

Game one of the Saturday, Feb. 27, double header had Ellie Edmond of Southern go seven innings in a complete game 7- 2 win, striking out seven. She is now 1-0 on the season.

On the second pitch of the game, Savannah Grabowski of Beatrice hit a towering home run into deep left center.

The Storm had 13 hits in the game, and Brooke Brestel of Lincoln Southwest hit her first home run of the season with a two-run shot to deep center.

Game two had Megan Hartman of Lincoln Southwest pick up her third win in as many games with a 17-1 pounding of the Comets.

Helping herself, Hartman hit a two-run home run to left center.

Hartman struck out seven in a five-inning outing.

The Storm pounded out 18 hits in the game.

The Storm traveled to 4-4 Allen Community College on Sunday for a 1 and 3 p.m. doubleheader, losing the first 3-5, but winning the second 4-0.

The Lady Storm will take its 5-1 record into home field double play with Riverland CC on Friday at 4 and 6 p.m.

The team will also play Iowa Lakes CC on Saturday at 1 and 3 p.m. and Central CC on Sunday, also at 1 and 3 p.m.
