Lady Storm 3-1 in weekend double headers

Storm Softball played double headers Saturday, March 21, and Sunday, March 22, prior to leaving for a long Spring Break schedule in Kansas and Oklahoma.

On Saturday, the Storm lost a 5-inning game to Western Nebraska 9-0. The Storm was only able to get one runner on base by a walk.

In game two, the Storm played a strong game and defeated Western Nebraska 5-4 behind a strong pitching performance by Megan Hartman. Megan allowed 3 hits, 4 runs, walked 2 and struck out 13.

On offense, Kristin Thomas came out of her slump to hit two home runs, the first a two-run shot and the second a three-run shot for all the runs the Storm scored.

On Sunday, Marshalltown fell to the Storm and Megan Hartman by the score of 6-5 in 8 innings playing international tie-breaker rules. Megan’s numbers were 3 hits, 5 runs, 3 base on balls and 11 strikeouts.

In addition, Nicole Zelinski hit her second home run of the year.

Game two had Megan on the mound again, and the Storm won in five innings 10-2. Megan’s numbers were 2 hits, 2 runs, 3 base on balls and 5 strikeouts.

The Storm record is now 10 wins and 16 losses.
