The SCC Humanities Program has partnered with the Confucius Institute at UNL to offer Beginning Chinese classes.

These classes will be offered at the Education Square campus in downtown Lincoln Monday-Thursday from 5:30 to 7:10 p.m.

The first class is Beginning Chinese, CHIN-1010, which will be offered for the fall quarter.

The class is designed to prepare students for a trip to China in 2018.

While the language class is not required, students and community members attending trip will be required to complete Global Studies 2980 the quarter prior to going on the trip.

The trip will be paid for by proceeds from fundraisers to be determined.

Students seeking to enrich their knowledge in Chinese are encouraged to take the following classes: CHIN 1010, CHIN 1020, CHIN 2010, CHIN 2020, CHIN 2030 and CHIN 2040.

“We are partners with China, and it is important for students and the community to learn another language and about the culture,” said Humanities Program Chair Amanda Baron-Fritts. “Partnerships with China will bring cultural activities.”
